The Arboleda Park in Almazán is one of those places where nature sets the tone. The banks of the Duero River, the trees, the dense vegetation: a soft, organic environment that requires any new construction to be carefully justified.

The commission was to design a multipurpose building for the Almazán Agri-Food Fair, capable of hosting exhibitions, conferences, and forums. The solution was a cross-laminated timber structure set on a concrete foundation: two volumes of different scales, a main one measuring 1,350 m² for events and a smaller one for services and access.
The choice of wood was not merely aesthetic. In a setting like Parque de la Arboleda, wood was the material that allowed for a dialogue with the surrounding nature. At the same time, the project does not attempt to blend into the landscape but rather to introduce into it an object of precise and bold geometry: the hardness of the form set against the softness of the surrounding vegetation. The concrete base anchors the building to the ground; the upper section, constructed of thin wooden slats, is lighter and adheres to that base by contrast.
The building has a serene presence in the park; it does not dominate the surroundings, yet it retains its character. The laminated timber structure was designed and engineered in collaboration with engineer Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Nevado.
