Single-family home
Single-family home in Fuentetoba (Soria)
El Soto de Fuentetoba is a neighborhood of detached single-family homes situated in a unique location on the outskirts of the city of Soria, bordered by Pico Frentes, a hill that defines and marks the flat landscape of the surrounding area.
The two-story house, with flat roofs, is situated on a lot adjacent to and running parallel to the hillside. Its distinct linearity reflects the program of requirements, organized around a central space that serves as a transition between the social and private areas. The staircase is highlighted on the north facade by a glazed void that extends across both levels, drawing the eye toward the landscape of Pico Frentes.
To the south, two projecting volumes—the living-dining room and the kitchen—extend into the lot. This design serves a dual purpose: to increase the area of windows facing the optimal orientation and to create a volumetric composition based on prisms of varying heights intersected by horizontal planes.
Access is via the east facade, where the recessed design is repeated to accommodate the main entrance, which is sheltered by a cantilever that connects it to the garage structure.
The arrangement of openings combines large windows on the south, east, and west facades with smaller openings on the north facade, striking a balance between light, views, and thermal control. All facades are clad in light-colored exposed brick, giving the complex a unified character and a serene presence within the landscape.
